Crowd Guide

  1. Disneyland is also selling discount tickets to locals, so that and all the passholders are making it more crowded than ever.

  2. To be fair even touringplans which i have a subscription for and which claims they use some type of advanced statistical model to estimate crowd size had Wed and Thursday at a 2 out of 10 scale while it ended up being a 7 out of 10 both days. Only site that predicted a ‘moderate’ sized crowd for this week was undercovertourist.

Point is that there is no longer such a thing as Ghost Town for the parks UNLESS its Noahs Flood out there And the ‘Its Alright’ days will be fewer and fewer goung forward. Ive had a routine for the last few years of going Late Jan, Late Sept, and early December. We’re just going to plan once a year now spread out over a few days instead so we wont feel rushed. This past Thursday was thr first time I left the park feeling stressed out trying to fight my way through the sheer number of people there.

  3. Multitude of reasons we can point to, including the parade BUT theres been a multitude of reasons trying to justify the bigger than average crowds throughout the year. There will always be reasons but the end result is that busy days are the new norm for Disneyland all year round

  4. I think a lot of people go on the “Ghost Town” days, making it more crowded. Everyone I know plans their vacations for during the off-season now that Disneyland is ridiculously crowded other times of the year.

  5. Schools are back in session. I think it’s mostly locals going to the park.

  6. We have been going to Disneyland for years on weekdays in January around this time and it has NEVER been this crowded! It’s so sad! The park used to be so enjoyable in late January.

  7. What’s funny is that the parks were completely empty the last two weeks and then bam, this week the floodgates opened. That’s why I think the parade returning is most likely the reason. All school districts are back in session by now.

  8. It seems like they are trying to go for an attendance record or something!

  9. Oh, that’s definitely what Disney wants. The more the park gets crowded, the more they can hike ticket prices. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like once Star Wars opens.

  10. We will not be renewing our season passes. We have been loyal passholders for over 8 years, but it has just gotten too crazy for us! 🙁
