Crowd Guide

  1. I think some colleges are still on break, but yeah, everybody else went back to school weeks ago.

  2. Here’s the reality, folks: there are WAY TOO MANY annual passholders.

Disney knows this. Everyone knows this, but nothing will be done about it because all those passes bring in a ton of money. Ever since they introduced monthly payment plans for APs many years ago, crowds have gotten worse and worse. We don’t know the exact number of passholders, but it’s at least a million, mostly locals. The parks (including parking) were never meant to handle that many consistent visitors. Expect bigger crowds and higher prices because they will never stop selling passes.

  3. So I take it it’s going to be crowded tomorrow?

  4. Yes, I’d be prepared for it to be crowded like today. Get there early!

  5. How will the crowds be next Sunday?

  6. That’s Super Bowl Sunday, so it’s expected to be very busy. Get there early!

  7. was most likely the weather was the cause for the empty parks , we haven’t had rains like that in years.

  8. Disneyland has been advertising like crazy the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade, including the $50 tickets deal for locals (which I don’t think they’ve ever done before), so that definitely caused bigger crowds last week.

  9. Came from Canada and visited Jan. 23 – 27 as this site said it was a “Ghost Town” on a 5 day pass (2 days in CA and the remaining 3 in Disneyland). This was about the 4th trip with our 3 girls and will be the last. It has progressively gotten worse crowd wise and waiting 60 – 120 minutes for the good rides (standby and we utilized FastPass as much as possible) is a waste when you have to pay to fly down and accommodations. Radiator Racers was down the entire day for one of our CA days which really upset the kids.

My favorite quote I heard while standing in a 5 – 10 minute line for fast passes at Hyperspace Mountain was someone saying “this is the line up for the lineup” and then it dawned on me what a bad experience this place really is now. Fastpass lineup was 20 minutes even to get on the ride. Even Fantasy Land lines (Snow White for instance) were into the 30 minute range for a 2 minute ride. Fairly certain tourists like myself will start skipping Disneyland and the locals will get it back to themselves which I’m sure will be a good things for those folks (just not with the hotel chains and business that thrive on the tourism aspect of Disneyland).
